Dynamic Pass Box | Dynamic Pass Through Box | Active Pass Box

The dynamic pass box(also called active pass box, dynamic pass through box) is mainly used for transfering materials from non-clean zones to clean zones, or from cleanrooms with low cleanliness to that with high cleanliness without personnel movement. Different from the static pass box, the dynamic pass box can purify the air by its own.

Working principle of dynamic pass boxes is, filters and fans are equipped on the top of dynamic pass boxes, after the air is purified by the primary efficiency filter, it is inhaled into the static pressure box by the centrifugal fan, going through the high-efficiency filter and blowing off from the uniform air flow membrane at everage speed of 0.45m/s., which can effectively eliminate dust particles on the surface of materials. At the same time, dynamic pass boxes are fitted with interlocking systems and sanitary sealing strips, which can effectively prevent cross-contamination in the cleanroom.

As an experienced dynamic pass box manufacturer in China, we can customize based on special requirements. Please send us your specifications to tailor dynamic pass box solutions.

Dynamic Pass Boxes Manufacturer-The Complete FAQ Guide

Learn more about the dynamic pass box with this guide. We prepare some questions and answers for you.

What Is the Core Difference between A Dynamic Pass Box and A Static Pass Box?

The fundamental distinction lies in the presence of active purification capability:

Dynamic Pass Box: It is equipped with an integrated HEPA filter and a fan system. It provides active contamination control by continuously circulating purified air within the chamber, effectively removing airborne particles and microorganisms from material surfaces. This makes it suitable for transferring materials between zones of different cleanliness classifications where sterility or particulate control is a requirement.

Static Pass Box: It relies solely on an interlock system and physical sealing to provide a barrier against bulk air exchange. It lacks any active purification components and is therefore only appropriate for transferring materials between areas of the same cleanliness level, offering no improvement to the cleanliness of the items being transferred.

How Does a Dynamic Pass Box Work?

A dynamic pass box operates through an integrated air purification system. Its built-in fan continuously circulates chamber air through a HEPA filter (with ≥99.99% efficiency for 0.3μm particles), creating a vertical unidirectional airflow at 0.36-0.54 m/s. This laminar flow removes airborne contaminants from material surfaces while maintaining positive pressure. Combined with door interlocks, it ensures active purification during material transfer between different cleanliness zones, effectively preventing cross-contamination.

Can a Dynamic Pass Box Be Used Between Areas of Different Cleanliness Classifications?

Yes, this is one of the primary applications of a dynamic pass box. The equipment is specifically engineered to safely handle material transfers between adjacent cleanliness classifications through its integrated purification system. This system combines HEPA filtration with controlled airflow management to continuously purify the chamber environment while maintaining directional airflow through strategic pressure differentials.

However, this equipment is not recommended for transfers between areas with extreme cleanliness differences (such as from ISO Class 8 to ISO Class 5). In these high-risk scenarios, more specialized equipment like air shower pass box or VHP pass boxes should be employed to ensure adequate contamination control.

Why is 304 Stainless Steel the Preferred Material for Dynamic Pass Boxes?

304 stainless steel is prioritized for dynamic pass box construction due to its optimal balance of corrosion resistance, cleanability, and cost-effectiveness. This selection is based on three key technical considerations:
1. Superior Corrosion Resistance & Chemical Stability
The composition (18% chromium, 8% nickel) forms a dense passive oxide layer
Effectively resists common cleanroom disinfectants including 75% ethanol and isopropyl alcohol
Maintains structural integrity in high-humidity environments, ensuring long-term reliability
2. Optimal Surface Properties for Cleanliness Maintenance
Features a smooth, non-porous surface (achieving Ra ≤ 0.8μm through mechanical or electropolishing)
Incorporates radiused corners to eliminate sanitation dead zones
Prevents microbial colonization and particle generation
3. Compliance and Economic Balance
Meets FDA and GMP requirements for direct product contact surfaces
Offers 20-30% cost advantage compared to 316L stainless steel
Proven reliability across pharmaceutical, electronics, and food industries

What Are the Application Areas of Dynamic Pass Boxes?

Dynamic pass boxes serve critical roles across multiple industries where maintaining environmental purity during material transfer is essential. Their active purification capability makes them particularly suitable for the following specific applications:
1. Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology
Sterile formulation production: Transfer of sterile raw materials and primary packaging materials to core areas like filling zones
Biologics production: Handling of cell culture vessels and growth media requiring strict microbial control
API manufacturing: Preventing cross-contamination of highly active pharmaceutical ingredients between process areas
2. Medical Devices and Healthcare
Sterile medical device production: Transfer of implantable devices and surgical consumables
Hospital pharmacy: Connecting compounding and filling areas for sterile preparations
Diagnostic laboratories: Safe transfer of samples and reagents in PCR and microbiology labs
3. Food and Cosmetics Industries
Aseptic packaging lines: Material entry points for sterile filling operations
Clean ingredient handling: Transfer of sensitive additives like probiotics and natural colorants
Premium product manufacturing: Movement of active ingredients in cosmetic production
4. Electronics and Precision Engineering
Semiconductor fabrication: Transfer of wafers and photomasks between clean areas
Display manufacturing: Handling of optical films and glass substrates in high-cleanliness environments
Precision optics: Assembly of sensitive components requiring particulate control
